Deputy Director’s Message

As Deputy Director of MADO Organization, I am honored to share our journey of growth, resilience, and unwavering commitment to vulnerable communities across the Southwest State regions of Somalia. Over the past three years, MADO has played a crucial role in providing life-saving support, including emergency water supply during droughts, access to quality education, improved healthcare services, and legal aid for marginalized groups. Our work in peacebuilding, through conflict resolution and community dialogues, has fostered trust and promoted harmony in high-risk areas.

Our environmental initiatives, such as reforestation programs and the promotion of sustainable agricultural practices, have empowered communities to adapt to the adverse effects of climate change while reducing carbon emissions. The dedication of our team, coupled with the invaluable support from our partners, has been instrumental in driving positive change.

As we look ahead to 2024, our focus is to expand our humanitarian assistance to reach more communities facing climate-induced crises and conflict-related challenges. We are committed to strengthening our human rights advocacy, with a particular focus on gender equality and the empowerment of marginalized groups. Our large-scale reforestation project will not only address deforestation but also provide sustainable livelihoods for local communities.

MADO’s approach is rooted in community participation, capacity building, and the mobilization of local resources. We believe that sustainable development is achieved when communities are actively involved in shaping their own future. Through strong partnerships with regional and international stakeholders, we aim to enhance our impact and deliver transformative programs that improve lives.

Our journey has not been without challenges, but the lessons learned have strengthened our resolve. We are committed to overcoming logistical challenges, particularly in remote and conflict-affected areas, by enhancing our operational capacity and building stronger community networks.

As we embark on this new chapter, I extend my heartfelt gratitude to our staff, volunteers, partners, and the communities we serve. Together, we will continue to build resilient communities, promote peace, and drive sustainable development for a brighter future.

Wilo Abdihamid
